The crew at
Deep Sea Charters takes pride in its 57 year history of
providing exceptional charter boat services to Westport’s visitors and
citizens alike. Some may say that the proof is in the winning, since
a lot of the winning derby fish are caught by
Deep Sea Charter’s
customers.
Bottom Fishing
(Rockfish and Lingcod) excursions are available every day from March
15th through October 18th.
The 2008 HALIBUT season
is still open! We will be fishing on May 11th and May 13th. There will probably be enough quota to go additional days also. So please stay in touch with our office or the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Also we still have availabilty for Halibut in Lapush
for May 13th and 17th
The
2008 SALMON season Opens June 1st Sundays through Thursdays! We expect a good run of Chinook! (the big ones!). There will be a one King limit until the 26th of June then the season changes to a (2) fish limit one of which can be a King.
During the regular
Salmon season,
Deep Sea
Charters offers weekday and weekend salmon journeys as well as
special six man boat trips for those who prefer a more intimate (less
crowded) experience. There are also special motel packages available for
those taking a weekday (Monday – Thursday) salmon trip with
accommodations available Sunday through Wednesday nights only.

The daily limit for
Bottom Fish is
10 rockfish, 2 lingcod and 3 other types of bottom fish and you may have
a crew member fillet your catch (for a fee). Motel deals are available
for bottom fishing trips as well. During salmon season, bottom fishing
motel packages are only available for people going out on weekend
(Friday or Saturday) excursions and include motel stays for Thursday –
Friday nights. During the rest of the fishing season, motel packages for
bottom fisherman are offered 7 days a week.
In addition to specific salmon and bottom fishing journeys, we are
offering Combo Trips encompassing both. Just let us know if you’re
interested in one of these special excursions.
Halibut trips are normally available each day from Sunday through
Thursday for a couple weeks beginning in May. On the lucky
occasions when the halibut limit is caught early enough, you’ll be able
to bottom fish on the way back to port.

With
Tuna trips, unlike other types
of fishing excursions, there is no limit to how many albacore you can
reel in. All tuna treks have a check-in time of 6:00 pm and last for
either 1 ½ or 2 days. The shorter trip returns to town early in the
morning two days after departing and the longer trip gets back into port
at around 4:00 pm that day. Be sure to pack warm clothes and, for most
boats, a sleeping bag
and enough food to tide you over, since only water and coffee are
provided for you. Check the
schedule page for more
information about the amenities available on each boat as well as
possible trip dates. The tuna boats accommodate anywhere from 6 to 10
people and seem to work best (and be the most fun) when a group of
friends charter the whole boat.

Nothing is as wondrous as
watching a
Whale breach or catching a great photo of
one of these incredible creatures in its natural environment. While the
trip lasts only about 2 hours, the experience remains for a lifetime.
